Typography

First class with Lance Scott-Jones he introduced us to out first module assignment TYPOGRAPHY 1

Our task was to create a set of experiments using different mediums (collected objects) to visualize a font and words, we had photograph each letter we formed.

as this task was only a day task we didn't have much time to research. The only examples we had to reflect on where the ones on the brief sheet Lance handed us.

As there was only 3 of us in our class we went out together to photograph our experiments. We headed towards the Wash lands and into town and and made letters out of random found things. I've included some of the images we took for examples.

Wikipedia 'is the art and technique of arranging type in order to make language visible. The arrangement of type involves the selection of typefaces, point size, line length, leading (line spacing), adjusting the spaces between groups of letters (tracking) and adjusting the space between pairs of letters (kerning). (Type Design) is a closely related craft, which some consider distinct and others a part of typography; most typographers do not design typefaces, and some type designers do not consider themselves typographers.'

We included an images to the letters we made and had to spell a word that related in some way to the chosen image. I chose a photograph I took last year of a girl in the woods. I chose this image because I think it would relate to most of the letters we formed while being in the Wash Lands.
